Calling all interested actors and drama people; meeting this Friday October 6th at lunch in Ms. Payton's room 41. We will be discussing "Elf" the play.

  1. We know you get thirsty during the day, come by Ms. Payton's room 41 between classes to buy a bottle of cold water for $1 and support the MHS Drama club

Attention Native American Students:  there will be an On Track meeting in the library computer lab at lunch today featuring Drs. Amanda Bruegl and Erik Brodt speaking about their experiences as Native health care providers.

  1. Volunteers needed!!! Any student wishing to complete community service/volunteer hours for their graduation requirement may sign-up with Miss McConnell for Sunday, 10/22 10am-12pm. Students and adult volunteers will be cleaning up from the Boosters annual dinner & auction at the air museum
  1. There is a SMILE meeting next Tuesday (10/10) after school from 3:30-4:30 in Mrs Fugate's room.
  1. Have you ever seen someone being mean to another person? Do you wish you knew more about what to say or do? October is Anti-Bullying Month! The GSA will host a "Bystander Training" on Friday, Oct.6, at lunchtime-5th period. Learn some skills for speaking up & helping others. Talk to Ms. Wheeler or Ms. Fullmer by Thursday if you're interested. Let's make our school and our world a nicer place! (Next week, GSA is back to normal time/place on Fridays.)
  1. Upcoming College and Recruiter visits to MHS!!! University of Oregon will be at MHS on Wednesday October 4th Go Ducks!!! Oregon State University is excited to visit with students at MHS on Wednesday October 11th. Go Beavs!!! Pacific University wants to meet with you! They will be at MHS on October 12th. Go Boxers!!! Are you interested in possibly joining the US Army? Well then, your in luck! A representative from the US Army will be at MHS on Wednesday November 1st.Students, stop by Student Services and see Ms Piercy to sign up for any of these upcoming College visits!!! 
  1. DACA recipients whose authorization expires before March 5, 2018 must renew by October 5.  If you have any questions or would like to be connected to resources that can help, talk with Mr. Fisher, Mrs. Sisk, or someone in the counseling department. 
  1. The Madras Sister City group is now accepting student applications for our June 2018 exchange trip to Tomi City Japan! There will be four 11th/12th grade Jefferson County students selected to attend. The City of Madras has generously donated $500 per student toward trip costs. Find the student application on the Madras Sister City - Tomi City Japan Facebook page. Applications due October 16th.  Please see Mr Hocker (Room 21) or Mr Tyler if you have further questions!!!  Don't delay!
  2. The Oregon Promise Application opened 9/20/2017!  All senior students with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher should submit an application.  Students may qualify for amounts ranging from $1,000 to $3,540 per year to assist in costs for attending any one of the 17 Oregon community colleges.   You can apply online at  Visit Ms. Sisk in the Future Center for more information or application assistance!
