  1. SENIORS:  We are into the season where you will be requesting that MHS staff fill out reference forms and/or write letters of recommendation for post-secondary institution applications, for scholarships, and for internships or jobs on your behalf.  It takes time for these tasks to be completed; you should plan to give 2-4 weeks of lead time to your reference person.  It is important to make this request in person even if an email is coming from the institution.  Be sure to ask the person what they need to complete your recommendation, provide a resume or list of activities if that will be needed, let him/her know how to turn in the form or letter as well as informing him/her of the deadline.  Often, it is helpful to return to the person a few days before the due date to check in, remind him/her about your deadline.  After the process is complete, a simple in-person thank you is appreciated.  The Future Center has Recommendation Request forms to assist you.  Good luck, Seniors, in your planning this year.  As an MHS staff, we are here to help you as you make your plans.  We are rooting for you!
