  1. Hey Juniors! Central Electric Cooperative is offering their Washington DC Youth tour again this June 2018. CEC will sponsor 2 high school juniors on an all-expense paid trip to Washington DC. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity where students are immersed in our nation's history and visit different sites like Mt. Vernon, the White House, and the Smithsonian. The only eligibility criteria is that students must be juniors in high school and their family must be Central Electric Cooperative members. The deadline for applications is December 8th. Please see your counselor for an application.
  1. Have you lost an item? Check for it in the "lost and found" now located in the Commons! If you have lost prescription glasses or other valuable items (cell phone, i-pod, jewelry, etc.), check with staff in Student Services.
  1. Internship opportunities:  come learn more about Youth Career Connect on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 1pm to 3:30pm in the future center.
  1. SENIORS:  We are into the season where you will be requesting that MHS staff fill out reference forms and/or write letters of recommendation for post-secondary institution applications, for scholarships, and for internships or jobs on your behalf.  It takes time for these tasks to be completed; you should plan to give 2-4 weeks of lead time to your reference person.  It is important to make this request in person even if an email is coming from the institution.  Be sure to ask the person what they need to complete your recommendation, provide a resume or list of activities if that will be needed, let him/her know how to turn in the form or letter as well as informing him/her of the deadline.  Often, it is helpful to return to the person a few days before the due date to check in, remind him/her about your deadline.  After the process is complete, a simple in-person thank you is appreciated.  The Future Center has Recommendation Request forms to assist you.  Good luck, Seniors, in your planning this year.  As an MHS staff, we are here to help you as you make your plans.  We are rooting for you!
