Getting to know our Board Members



Jefferson County School District 509-J is a public local education agency serving students in Jefferson and Wasco counties. The JCSD 509-J service area encompasses approximately 250 square miles and provides education services for children entering kindergarten through 12th grade. There are seven schools located within the School District: Warm Springs K-8 Academy located in Warm Springs; Madras Elementary School (K-5), Buff Elementary School (K-5), Jefferson County Middle School (6-8), Madras High School (9-12) located in Madras; Metolius Elementary School (K-5) located in Metolius; and Big Muddy School (K-8) located near Antelope, Oregon. Bridges High School operates in Madras and Warm Springs. The JCSD 509-J's current enrollment is approximately 2,900 students in grades K-12.

The five-member School Board meets at 7:00pm in the Board Conference Room at the District Office (Support Services Building) located at 445 S. E. Buff Street in Madras, Oregon on the second Monday of every month (unless noted otherwise) - Please refer to the board calendar for additional days the board may meet, location changes and/or any cancellations ( Meeting agendas are posted 24 hours prior to each meeting and corresponding minutes are posted after board approval (typically following the monthly meeting)

CITIZEN PARTICIPATION:   Jefferson County School District (JCSD) 509J welcomes public participation at school board meetings.  Individuals who wish to comment will be given an opportunity to do so – please put your name and topic on the sign in sheet provided at the meeting.  Because time is limited as a standard practice, as a courtesy to others and to maintain our meeting schedule guests will be allotted three minutes to speak.  If you have a group attending regarding the same topic, you will need to appoint one speaker.  The Chair has authority to keep order and impose any reasonable restrictions necessary to conduct an efficient meeting.  The Board reserves the right to delay discussion on any item presented until later in the meeting or at a subsequent meeting.  Objective criticism of operations and programs may be heard, but no complaints concerning specific personnel.  The visitor will be directed to the appropriate means for filing complaints as necessary.  We appreciate your cooperation.
